Detoxing is a
method of supporting
the organs of
elimination (skin,
bowel, kidneys,
liver, lymph
glands) whilst reducing
dietary factors which can cause
a toxin overload. Items
such as alcohol,
fats, sugars,
processed foods and
drinks.
Detox diets
are usually started
over a weekend or
time away from
stresses as you can
feel fragile for the
first few days. We
always recommend
seeing your health
practitioner before
embarking on a detox
as some can be
very severe and are
not appropriate for
these on some prescription
medicines
or with illnesses
such as diabetes.
A study by the University
of Massachusetts,
published in
the Journal of Alzheimer's
Disease, has
claimed that eating
two to four apples a
day can guard against
cell damage in the
brain which leads to
forgetfulness in old
age. It is believed
that eating and
drinking apples and
apple juice in conjunction
with a balanced
diet can protect
the brain from
the effects of oxidative
stress, which
encourages cell damage
and contributes
to memory loss.
Tips for healthy living
Start your day
with a glass of
water with a
squeeze of lemon
in it.
It kicks start your
digestion and
helps with re hydration
after the
night .
Skin brushing is a
very easy form of
detoxing. Brush
skin gently with a
skin brush, starting
with outer
parts (hands and
feet) and always
brush towards the
heart. It encourages
good skin
elimination and
gives a lovely
smoothness to the
skin.
